Why We Have a Roasted On Date

When it comes to coffee, the Best Before date doesn’t tell you much. Coffee doesn’t suddenly spoil overnight—but its flavour does fade over time.

Roasting is a key milestone in a coffee bean’s life, essentially starting a countdown on its freshness. Most baristas agree that coffee is at its peak between 5 and 25 days after roasting. After that, the vibrant flavors start to dull. A Best Before date might tell you when coffee will be completely stale, but it doesn’t tell you when it was actually roasted—or when it will taste its best.

That’s why Acme Coffee labels with a Roasted On date instead. It gives you a clear picture of freshness, so you know exactly when your coffee is in its prime.

Coffee is like a banana. When you buy it firm with a yellow and a tinge of green, it is ready to go. And when it is black and squishy it has oxidised and gone off. Coffee is the same.

OUR ROASTERY

The Loring roasting machine is a game-changer in the coffee world. It’s designed to offer precision, consistency, and efficiency in every roast. What makes it stand out is its energy efficiency—it uses up to 80% less energy than traditional roasters, making it a greener choice for Acme.

The Loring’s unique closed-loop system ensures that no heat is wasted, while its innovative air flow design gives you greater control over the roasting process. This results in a more consistent roast profile with every batch, highlighting the true flavors of the beans.

It’s also user-friendly, with an easy-to-use interface that lets you monitor and adjust the roast in real-time.

In short, the Loring roasting machine is all about getting you the best cup of coffee possible, with less energy, less waste, and a whole lot of precision.
